Martin J. Whitman School of Management

Faculty Position in Accounting

The Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor of Accounting beginning Fall 2026. This is a non-tenure-track teaching position with a renewable three-year term.

This position is a strategic addition to the faculty of the Lubin School of Accounting, designed to strengthen the Whitman School's ability to meet student demand across a range of high-impact accounting courses. The primary emphasis of the position is to teach analytics, technology and information systems within accounting. It would be beneficial to fill the position with someone who can potentially teach financial and managerial accounting as needed. The successful candidate will help ensure continuity in required courses while contributing new ideas and expertise in emerging areas that enhance student career preparation and CPA readiness. A passion for teaching and student success is essential. This is a full-time position with expectations to be on-campus in Syracuse for teaching and with the expectation to be available to support and mentor students and their learning, actively participate in departmental and school activities, and contribute to Whitman's emphasis on experiential, career-ready education.

The teaching load for this position is seven courses per academic year (typically three in one semester and four in the other). The new faculty member will be expected to teach Accounting Information Systems, Information Technology for Business, among others at the undergraduate and graduate level. Candidates are required to hold a Master's degree in Accounting, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a closely related field. The faculty member will report to Craig Nichols, Chair of the Lubin School of Accounting.

The Lubin School of Accounting prepares students for CPA success and leadership careers through a curriculum that combines accounting rigor with analytics and applied technology. Faculty are deeply engaged in student mentoring, experiential learning, and partnerships with employers, helping Whitman graduates thrive in public accounting, corporate finance, and consulting roles.

The Whitman School is in a period of significant transformation, with a renewed emphasis on innovation, experiential learning, and student impact. Its upward trajectory includes expanding its emphasis on experiential learning, industry engagement, and embracing new technology-driven approaches to business education. The Whitman School's accounting and analytics programs are nationally recognized, reflecting Whitman's commitment to student success and professional relevance.

For full consideration, candidates must apply online at www.sujobopps.com (Job #078632 ) and attach the following documents: - Cover letter including a statement of teaching philosophy - Curriculum vitae - Evidence of teaching excellence (e.g., course evaluations, sample syllabi) - Three professional references

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
