  • Professor and Deputy Head of School

    The Professor and Deputy Head of School (Research) will provide strategic leadership in advancing the School’s research priorities, aligned with Monash University Malaysia’s goal of being an anchor institution demonstrating impact to the Malaysian community. This role is responsible for driving a high-performance research culture, mentoring academic staff, and positioning the School as a leader in impactful, externally funded research. As a member of the School’s leadership team, the appointee will also contribute to academic governance and decision-making that enhances the School’s national and international standing.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Lead curriculum development, innovation, enhancement and quality assurance in the undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum
    2. Lead the development and delivery of innovative and excellent teaching, learning and assessment experiences for undergraduate and postgraduate students
    3. Conduct world class research, maintaining an active record of high quality publication, grants, and PhD student supervision.
    4. Lead the development and implementation of a research strategy for the School of Business, reflecting the School’s strategic priorities and aspirations for research excellence and societal impact.
    5. Build and lead multidisciplinary research teams that address challenges relevant to the School’s disciplinary strengths and deliver outcomes with demonstrable value to the Malaysian community.
    6. Lead the development of strong collaborations with other universities, and with government, industry and/or civil society to drive research impact and educational excellence.
    7. Play an active leadership role in the management of education, research and/or administration in the School, including coaching, mentorship, leadership and effective performance management.
    8. Represent the School of Business in strategic research and engagement initiatives, helping to position it as a leader in applied and impactful research within Monash University Malaysia and beyond.
    9. Work closely with the Faculty of Business and Economics to ensure alignment of the School’s research strategy with Faculty and University-wide research priorities, contributing to a coordinated and cohesive academic direction across the Monash network. 

    KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
    Education/Qualifications
    1. A doctoral qualification (PhD) or equivalent qualification
    2. A strong record of successful and innovative curriculum development
    3. An outstanding record of teaching, and educational leadership, which demonstrates a commitment to innovation and excellence
    4. An outstanding research record, demonstrated by world class publications, grants and PhD supervision
    5. An outstanding record in research leadership including generating research income, leading major research projects and, where relevant, building research teams
    6. Proven ability to promote the discipline internally within the university as well as externally, both nationally and internationally
    7. High level collaborative leadership skills that unite and inspire people creating a culture of high performance and collegiality
